Guest Blog: JennieB!

Tonight I went to a concert. I don't care for concerts. It feels really artificial to me to stand all awkwardly while someone is up high singing, and some people dance and some people sway and some people just stand still. BUT, I absolutely love Dessa, so I shlepped out in the cold weather to see this amazingly talented woman.

Dressing to go to a crowded hall while it's cold outside is complicated. So, I chose this long tank top with the buttoned sweater over. To help me brave the -0 temps I layered with some arm warmers, a head wrap (so my carrie bradshaw bun wouldn't get messy, normally I wear a hat), and this amazing cape that pretty much feels like a blanket.

Copasetic

We had the most perfect winter Saturday. We slept in, had lunch, ran errands & saw a movie. The kind of day I dream of.

On the hanger, P said he found this combo to be a little bit much.
However he said he really liked it once I had it on.
{thank you, thank you}

Comfy Friday

This isn't what I wore to work. I realized when I got home that what I had worn to work was an outfit I should not wear again; comfortable, just not very flattering. So I changed. A girl can change her mind, right?

I put on this old reliable dress {that I have been known to wear for days on end, barefoot on a summer weekend}. We hung out with some friends, & this outfit served as socially-appropriate pajama-grade comfort. The very essence of Friday.

Fresh Start

Could I be any more shamelessly awaiting the premiere of spring? Well geez. It was -27 when I woke up on Friday morning. What? No, I'm not kidding. Wind chill? Please. This was the temp, straight up. No magic windchill math. -27 degrees. Buhleeeee dat. Anyway today was 20 something and seemed balmy.

Is that the reason I haven't posted any outfits for a week? You sure have a lot of questions today. No. Well, yes. Sort of. It was a very cold week but also we've been busy. I wrote posts in sweatpants and never took pictures of my "for nice" clothes. I thought about trying to catch up, then I just decided to dump it all and start fresh. Isn't that what Mondays are for?

Tiers of Joy

This outfit was inspired by a color palette of Kendi's. She is great at sophisticated neutrals.

It snowed some more. Shocker. Many people had the day off today for MLK Jr. Day.

Not I, said the blog.

Skerry Flerrdy Berrdy

I love the Swedish Chef. He is so pleasant. I've met a few Swedes in my life and they were equally amiable.
The shirt under this dress is sort of tunic-y & unflattering. I haven't worn it really since I first got it. But I decided to try the shirt-I-like-the-top-of-but-is-otherwise-ill-fitting-under-a-dress strategy again.

Classic Face

This is my classic picture-being-taken face. There was a time when nary a photograph of my mug existed without this trademark expression upon it. Well besides sleeping photos. People love to take pictures of me sleeping. I think it's because sleeping, for me, happens so abruptly & with little regard for social setting. Anyway, I don't think I have broken out the classic face on the blog yet.
So, here it is. Behold.
This cardigan is olive green, not brown.
It's hard to detect but important to acknowledge.

Is she crazy?

Shorts. Twice in 4 days. In January. In Minnesota. Northern Minnesota. On Lake Superior. Pert near in Lake Superior.

{"Is she crazy?"}

In trufe, the Lake Effect makes Northern Minnesota not-so-bad in a lot of places. Really.

We are also down from the luxurious status of being a 2 car family, to the more tricky 1 car crew. Consequently, I have done a little more walking lately and it has actually been really lovely, considering the season. With the help of my gigantic down jacket that is basically a sleeping bag with sleeves, & my ultra cozy Minnetonkas, I rather enjoyed getting out for some brisk air.

Pinky Lee

It's easy to dress pretty when you get a ride everywhere. I felt like a Real Housewife today, the way I was chauffeured around. It was fancy.
